Fosse Meadows

Head over to Fosse Meadows for a fascinating free Archaeology Finds Morning and discover the incredible history hidden beneath our feet.

This event is part of the 2026 Festival of Archaeology, organised by the Council for British Archaeology. Taking place across the UK from 18 July to 2 August, this year's festival theme is "Archaeology and Nature", celebrating the connections between our historic and natural landscapes.

Explore a hands-on display of archaeological finds uncovered from the local area, from prehistoric tools to Roman coins, pottery and fibulae, through to medieval treasures including crotal bells and spindle whorls.

Local archaeology enthusiasts Neil Hagley and Tony Green from the Leicestershire Fieldworkers and Hinckley Archaeological Society will be on hand to share their knowledge, answer questions and reveal the rich archaeological heritage of the Fosse Meadows area.
